PROJECT SUMMARY: The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office had outgrown it's current quarters and needed to expand. After looking at the costs to build a new building compared with remodeling an existing facility they elected to remodel a building in Punta Gorda. The project was the remodeling of an existing 60,000
sf Manufacturing Plant to house the Sheriff's Office.
The project was completed in two phases. The first phase involved code improvements for the existing office portion of the complex. The second phase involved the renovation of the remaining 40,000 sf manufacturing facility into state-of-the-art facilities for the sheriff and a number of his departments including the county's 911 center.
Programmed functions for the complex include:
- District 3 Office
- Communications Center
- Administrative Offices
- Crime Scene Section
- Training Section
- Interview Rooms
- Canine Section
- Vice and Organized Crime Sections
- Inventory and Supply
- Evidence Section
- Major Crime Section
- Armory
