PROJECT SUMMARY:
The project began with an Historic Structures Report that guided the design services for the historic rehabilitation of the original Tampa Water Works facility. The historic Tampa Water Works Building (Filtration Plant) originally built in 1925, consisted of two buildings, the Filter Building and the Chemical Building . This project focused on improvements to the Filter Building to restore it to the original design. The work included lead paint abatement in the sensitive areas of the filtration tanks, roof replacement, and historic color restoration. The Chemical Building was also repainted to its original colors.
It was designed to comply with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation of Historic Buildings, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
